Michelle K. Jerome prides herself on being a compassionate advocate that is accessible to her clients.  She is a dedicated attorney that cares about your case and your future.

Ms. Jerome graduated with high honors in the top 10% of her class at North Carolina Central School of Law.  During that time she also served on both the Law Review and the Moot Court Board.  Since graduating she has served as both President and Vice-President Craven County Bar Association. Additionally, she is a former board member on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council in Craven County.

Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Jerome worked with the United Nations and the International Campaign to Ban Landmines in a joint effort to raise funds for clearing minefields in Mozambique.  She also lobbied U.S. Congressional members in an effort to raise awareness of the global landmine crises.  Ms. Jerome’s article on this subject was published in the U.N. Vision.  Later, Ms. Jerome served in the AmeriCorps as a literacy tutor for troubled youth and Mexican migrant farm workers. She moved to New Bern and married her husband, Steven Jerome, a local fireman, in 2011.

Ms. Jerome is a zealous trial attorney focusing on both criminal defense and family law. In criminal cases, she will take the time to discuss your options, such as community service, limited driving privileges, and expunging your record.  Remember, even something as small as a traffic ticket can have a long term effect on your finances, insurance, and driving record.  She represents clients with misdemeanors and felonies, traffic tickets, driving while license revoked, and DUI issues in Craven, Pamlico and Carteret Counties.

Additionally, Ms. Jerome handles family related matters such as child custody and visitation, separation agreements, equitable distribution claims, and absolute divorce.  She understands that these are very personal and very emotional issues and her role is not only an advocate, but also a counselor in law.  Ms. Jerome is dedicated to giving her clients a cost-effective, timely result with the personalized attention that each case deserves.
